OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We've spent three years getting to this point-the purchase of our "traveling home".  We've looked at tons of trailers, we've taken test trips and now in less than three weeks we'll be picking up the trailer and heading for our ten-day preparation trip to Lake Fairfax County Park in Northern Virginia.  The park is about five miles from Barb's in Vienna and ten miles from Allison's in Ashburn.  We'll be testing out all the systems and organizing the trailer for our first National Park trip.  Take off day is June 12 or 13 depending on Chelsea Neff's high school graduation schedule.  We'll be back at Lake Fairfax for a couple days and then to Cades Cove Campground in Great Smokey National Park from June 15 to June 20.  We'll overnight in Birmingham, Alabama and then on to New Orleans from June 21 to June 24.  From there it's on to San Antonio with an overnight in the Beaumont, Texas area on June 25-that's the night we are trying our first Walmart stop.  We'll be in San Antonio from June 26 to June 28 and overnight in El Paso, Texas on June 29th.  We'll have the 30th and 31st to get situated in the Phoenix, AZ. area so that Saturday night we can pick up Barb and Allison at the airport, have an overnight in Sedona and arrive at the Grand Canyon National Park on July 3rd.  On the 8th of July we take the girls back to Phoenix and then on the 11th we'll head to California.  We'll be in California for three weeks, but I was unable to get into Yosemite so I'm still working on logistics for CA.  More to come on that as plans solidify.  We have reservations at Yellowstone National Park from August 3 to August 16 and we'll be at Grand Teton National Park from August 17 to August 24.  Then a quick stop to see Mt Rushmore and back to State College in time for the PSU v. Indiana State game on September 3.  There you have it.  The first year of our five year plan to see the National Parks.  Anyone who would like to join us along the way is very welcome.  We can arrange for pick up.
